Seagate's new One Touch Portable external hard drive is available in 2TB and 4TB capacities, featuring USB-C connectivity, exFAT formatting for cross-platform compatibility, and bundled backup software.

Read on for details on its benchmark performance and features.

The drive comes in two capacities, a 2TB starting at $159,99 and a 4TB starting at $199,99. It measures 0,6 by 3,2 by 4,6 inches, weighs less than 6 ounces, and comes in navy, gray, or white. It features a USB-C port and includes an 18-inch USB-C cable in the box. It's ready to use with Mac, Windows, Linux, mobile devices, and consoles.

Performance and capabilities

In speed tests conducted by editor Tony Hoffman, the drive performed very well in basic read and write metrics, as well as in corresponding tests on Mac computers. However, its performance in everyday storage tasks was mediocre, and it recorded the lowest performance in a gaming test.

The device comes with software for automatic backups and password protection, but no hardware-based encryption on the drive. It also comes with a two-year warranty and a two-year data recovery service subscription.
