came back to a backend service i wrote 18 months ago and i genuinely cannot tell what i was thinking. the logic is technically there but the variable names are confusing, there are like 3 comments total, and there's a function called process_data that does 5 completely different things.
at what point do you just rewrite it vs trying to make sense of it? and is there anything you actually do to stop yourself from writing the same kind of unreadable code again
