The Document Foundation announced LibreOffice 26.2.7, the final maintenance update to the 26.2 stable series.

This release brings important bug fixes for Writer DOCX compatibility, Calc Web Query support, Impress audio regressions, and upgrades the bundled Python interpreter to version 3.12.16.

What the new update fixes

The update brings fixes for various issues that users were experiencing:

  • Collaboration with Microsoft Word: Fixed an issue where links to document contents stopped working. Also, files containing special date fields are now prevented from being corrupted, so that they do not become unreadable when saved from within the program.
  • PDF files: Fixed an error when exporting to PDF that caused named links to not work.
  • Texts and presentations: Fixed issues that caused the application to crash or close when searching, image aspect ratio errors, and unexpected frame resizing. In presentations, a Windows-only issue that prevented embedded audio from playing has been resolved.
  • Accounting sheets: Added support for Web Query (.iqy) files to import data from the internet.
  • Mac computers: Fixed an issue that caused the app to crash on startup on certain system versions, as well as a visual issue with links on systems with newer Apple processors.
  • Difference: Fixed missing menus and white lines appearing in images when scrolling. Additionally, the embedded Python environment was upgraded to version 3.12.16.

The end of the series and the next steps

Version 26.2.7 is the last of the older stable series, which reaches end of life on November 30, 2026.

The program managers recommend that users move to the newer series of programs by the end of November, after the expected release of version 26.8.3, while version 26.8.2 is currently the latest in this newer series.
