Hi, I just wanted to share my recent experience interviewing with Google L4 software engineering role (onsite role for Cloud but interview was on Google Meet), and I already shared this with the recruiter, but I wanted to share it here as well.
I had an AI coding interview on Wednesday and was informed on Friday that I would not be moving forward.
I invested significant time preparing, but unfortunately, I don't feel I was given a fair opportunity to demonstrate my skills. Much of the 45-minute session was spent waiting for the Antigravity AI agent to start. In the end I decided to write code myself instead of using Agent, but I ran out of time.
I was also disappointed by the lack of communication from the interviewer, who said very very little throughout the session (2 or 3 sentences), eventually mentioning that we were running out of time.
I genuinely admire Google and its engineering culture, which made this experience particularly disappointing. I believe the interview fell short of the professionalism and candidate experience I would expect from Google.
To the people on HN, please don't spend weeks preparing for an interview for a company that they don't care about you. Interviewers represent the company and its culture. Skip Google.
