Disclosure: I built SaveShelf, and this post was drafted with AI assistance and edited by me.
Reddit's Saved page only lists your newest ~1,000 items and has no real search. I built a Chrome extension, SaveShelf for Reddit, to keep a local, searchable copy. A few notes on how it's put together.
Reading the list
With host permission for www.reddit.com, the service worker calls /api/me.json to learn the username, then pages through /user/<name>/saved.json one request at a time, backing off when Reddit rate-limits. It uses the session you're already signed into and never writes anything to Reddit.
Storing it
The library lives in IndexedDB, which needs no extra permission. Settings and sync progress go in chrome.storage. Optional auto-sync uses chrome.alarms, off by default.
What it can't do
It can only import what Reddit still lists on day one. After that it keeps each new save, even after Reddit stops listing it. It can't resurrect old ones.
Business model
Free keeps 300 items with export unlocked; Pro is $1.50 once through ExtensionPay. The source is AGPL.

If you spot something wrong in how I'm using the extension APIs, I'd like to hear it.
