Is anyone out there making solutions with documents?

I've run into a couple of people at conferences recently who mentioned "digital transformation" in the sense that they were moving old processes and workflows that were heavy on physical paperwork to something digital and online. Think financial stuff like banking, loans, home mortgages, maybe even health care and insurance. Situations you may have come across where someone asked you to print, sign, and scan something back into the process. It's broader than that, but a good foundation.

The modern example I like to use is expense reports. Taking a picture of a receipt and uploading it to a portal was way easier than trying to hoard all my receipts and shove them in an envelope. But that was the process! And if you didn't have a receipt, you had to print a PDF, fill it out like it was a receipt, and add it to your envelope of receipts. And then fill out some expense tool wizard online and hope the math all worked out.

The only thing that surprised me with these conversations was we've been talking about "digital transformation" my entire career like it was a thing that should have been up and done immediately. The definition has shifted and changed, but the core remains the same - digitizing a process that once wasn't.

So I'd love to connect with the folks building solutions around physical or digital documents. Was this a new project? An update to something legacy? An add on or enhancement to something semi digital or even automated? Do your "digital transformation" include document processing and handling? I'm curious.

I do work for Apryse, but I'm hoping to start a broader conversation about document solutions.
