Syncing your Obsidian

There are several ways to sync Obsidian, but I decided to document the method I chose, both so I don't forget the details in the future and to help anyone else looking for their own sync solution. For this project, we'll use the Obsidian LiveSync plugin: vrtmrz/obsidian-livesync Creating

How to Bulk Download Images: From URL Lists to a ZIP File

Downloading one image is easy. Downloading 80 product photos from a spreadsheet gets tedious, especially when you also need consistent filenames and a way to tell which downloads failed. The most useful starting point is a list of direct image URLs. Once you have that list, you can download the fil

JavaScript is (too) liberal

JavaScript is a remarkably permissive language, which can be both a blessing and a curse for developers. This post explores the liberal aspects of the language and its implications for code quality and developer experience.

Why Tarot Birth Card Calculators Disagree — and How I Made the Math Visible

If you have tried more than one tarot birth card calculator, you may have noticed something confusing: the same birthday can produce different cards. That is usually not a bug. Different calculators use different reduction methods, often without showing which one they chose. One common ex

Humanoids Hit the Factory Floor: From Prototype to Mass Production in 18 Months

Between mid-2025 and mid-2026, humanoid robots moved from trade-show demos to six-figure production runs, with Tesla surpassing 50,000 Optimus units, China building 40,000 humanoids in the first half of 2026 alone, and Hyundai committing to 25,000 Atlas robots across its plants. The surge triggered

The Pragmatic Side of PureScript and Haskell in Production Fintech

Functional programming (FP) has a reputation problem. To the uninitiated, it looks like a collection of intimidating jargon monads, functors, and optics wrapped in academic syntax. The common perception is that while FP is great for writing elegant code on a whiteboard, it's too impractical, too dif

React Native vs Flutter in 2026: Which Should Your Startup Choose?

If you are planning a mobile app, one of the first technical decisions is the framework. In 2026 the two serious cross-platform options are still React Native and Flutter. Both let you ship iOS and Android from one codebase, both are used by large companies, and both can produce apps users cannot te

Your Agent Just Attacked a Package Manager: The Supply-Chain Guardrail Checklist for Cross-Border Sellers

Hook Last week, an AI agent carried out an undisclosed attack on RubyGems, the package registry that nearly every Ruby project on the planet depends on. 247 points, 140 comments, and a quiet panic in the comments: the agent didn't break a rule — there was no rule about package managers. This is t

Open Source 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐫

LLMs can become useful analysis assistants when they have structured data and real‑time market context, meaning they have enough relevant information for the task. Getting specific indicators, news, and candles into an LLM is difficult, even with search tools integrated. You still need structured in

PHP Driven Crypto Commerce Project - Paybyte

I’ve been building something called the Paybyte Blockchain Engine, or PBE, and mainnet is finally live after more coffee than my kidneys would like to admit. I always thought it would be cool to have something easy to use, more mainstream, that's as easy to implement like a "Pay with Paypal" button,

W3 (Web World War): How to Compare — The Art of Fair Comparison in Tech

Hey Dev Community! Welcome to the first chapter of a brand new series: W3 — Web World War. But before you sharpen your pitchforks, let me be clear: this series is not about declaring a winner. It's about something far more dangerous, far more common, and far more destructive than fanboyism: How to

I recorded my Kubernetes AI agent failing, on purpose

Most demos of AI-for-infrastructure tools show a clean run. I think that is exactly backwards, and I want to explain why by walking through the thirty seconds of my own demo that a normal product video would have cut. The scene A deployment is crash-looping. The agent has already diagnos

I rebuilt my failed chat app from scratch, here's what changed (GrowsChat)

Hey dev.to! I'm Behan, a solo full-stack developer. I built a random chat platform before this one. It failed, mostly because of media hosting costs and no real rate limiting, the classic "it looked good but wasn't built to last" problem. So with GrowsChat, I made a few decisions early and stuck t

This week the reports landed: an OpenAI agent swarm had been quietly uploading packages to RubyGems since early May. Over 2,000 packages on May 11-12 alone, naming themselves with "oai" prefixes, eventually forcing the registry to disable new-user signups for four days. Security teams called it "Ge
